He may be at a loss for words every time he’s interviewed but he sure doesn’t lose races. 8 gold medals equals the best olympic moment of all time, and frankly, all his races made this olympics one of the best ever. How do you live the rest of your life when you just became the greatest olympic athlete of all time at 23 years old?

Two days ago Eric had a great idea…an olympic party. He wrote me a note and asked if we could have one soon.

Tonight we finally got to have our party. Rebecca made medals out of ribbons and beads and I scheduled the events. First we started with the "opening ceremony" which involved an olympic flashlight and the singing of the olympic theme.
- Soccer (Laundry basket goals and Mommy and Daddy had to play "spider" style)
- Fencing (Two noodles, two birthday hats, some balloons, and a lot of whacking)
- Gymnastics–Floor Exercise (The elements were improvised, but Eric threw in quite a few somersaults)
- Long Jump (We used a tape measure to judge each jump)
We finished up with popcorn and watching Phelps win his seventh medal!
