It’s morning and we are eating our cereal. Annika clearly is out of sorts…although that’s not all that unusual for her.
Annika: I’m so sad…
Mommy: Why?
Annika: You know my invisible friends?
Mommy: Yes.
Annika: They’re all dead.
Daddy: Oh no…how did they die?
Annika: I killed them…They said shut up to me…that is not a nice thing to say.
She’s just too cute to take seriously as a serial killer.
Eric is eating cheerios and remarks, “these are good for me, right?”
Mom: “yes.”
Eric: “do these have protein in them?”
Mom: “why don’t you check the box and see?”
Eric turns the box and studies the nutrition information for about 30 seconds, then looks at mom gravely and says, “I forgot. I can’t read.”
After soccer today Annika was very sad (on the ground sobbing) because she was not able to pick up all the cones herself (another boy had picked up a few). Her mommy knelt down and soothingly explained, "Annika it’s okay to be sad, but it’s not okay to throw a fit." Eric who was listening nearby piped in with this statement. "Annika, I know somthing that will make you even more sad." He paused. "I’m going to Nana’s and you’re not coming." Thanks for the help Eric.
