What does it mean to have fun?

I’m trying to decide how I feel about this.  Lately I’ve been reading and studying about youth soccer.  I downloaded the ussoccer.com best practices manual and I also did a training through NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Association).  Well, they all emphasize making sure kids have fun and never stressing winning or competition.  So, today I asked Eric do you have fun when you play soccer.  He said, "Yeah, I do…except when I lose."  Wrap your mind around that.

Eric’s First Soccer Game

The Dinousaurs played the Red Hawks today in Eric’s first game ever.  It was very cute to watch but I have to admit I was thinking about how sore I was:-)

Bee and another mom Amy helped me out by taking over the coaching duties (I was late because of my triathlon race) We pretty much got hammered and of course the kids noticed…even though we don’t keep score and nobody wins. (Oh they know who won) 

Despite some frowns at the end of the game…every kids’ day brightened when they got a bag of animal crackers and a juice box.  (Snacks are the cure to all evil)
